They have recently expanded their business to include eight attorneys and three locations across the Louisville Metro and Bowling Green areas. Kentucky ElderLaw has decades of experience in practicing life care planning, estate planning, Medicaid, probate, VA benefits, and long-term care planning.

On October 20, 2022, past and present clients of the law firm, business partners, other attorneys, judges, and community members attended the fundraising party at St. Albert’s the Great Catholic Parish. Kentucky ElderLaw’s founding attorney, Bernard Faller, explained at the event that when he started the practice, no attorneys in the area were dedicated to serving seniors. Partners and lawyers Misty Vantrease, Kelly Gannott, and John Dotson, along with the other attorneys and staff at the firm, continue to protect assets and provide counsel on long-term care options to families, many of whom have loved ones with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.

Alzheimer’s Disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in our country, Gannott noted, “and long before that end, it robs families of their loved ones as they knew them.”

Because so many of the firm’s clients suffer from dementia or are caring for someone who does, “it’s a natural fit for us to support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association,” Dotson said. Kentucky ElderLaw does this, he said, not only by fundraising but also by providing education to caregivers throughout the year

The Alzheimer’s Association is an essential organization for those suffering from the disease. Many of Kentucky ElderLaw’s clients are heavily involved in this organization and, therefore, they work together frequently. It was because of this meaningful relationship that Kentucky ElderLaw decided to dedicate this function to raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Shannon White, the Chapter Executive of the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Kentucky & Southern Indiana spoke towards Kentucky ElderLaw’s donation, stating: “We are thrilled to have the continued generosity of Kentucky ElderLaw and are honored to be the recipient of their 20th Anniversary Celebration.” White continued to explain that this donation will be used to “fund critical Alzheimer’s research, help the Alzheimer’s Association provide family support groups and community education programs across Kentucky.” Our organization is so grateful for Kentucky ElderLaw and their decades-long partnership. Together, we will find a way to #ENDALZ!”

Dotson explained, “so many of us know or have known someone with Alzheimer’s Disease. Nationally, over 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s Disease. [Kentucky ElderLaw] appreciates all that our local Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association does to support our community, including many of our clients and their families.”

Attendees of the event danced to live music and enjoyed a bourbon pull. “We were so excited to celebrate our 20th anniversary with our friends and colleagues while supporting such a great cause,” Vantrease said. “We have had a special relationship with the Alzheimer’s Association since day one and are delighted to continue our partnership for years to come.”
